Chexite is a small website with a free test and a set of plain-English guides. We don’t sell anything on the site, we don’t run ads, and we collect as little as we can. Here is what happens with your information, in plain words.
Who runs this site
Chexite is run from Ontario, Canada. Questions about privacy: privacy@chexite.com.
The free website test
When you type a website address into the test and click “Check my site,” our server visits that address the way a search engine would, looks at how it answers, and shows you the result.
- We do not save the address you typed. It is used for the check and then discarded.
- We do not save the result. If you want to keep it, copy the note from the “instructions for your web developer” panel.
- To stop the tool from being abused, we count how many checks come from the same internet connection over one minute (a limit of ten). That count is kept for one minute and then disappears. We keep a scrambled version of the connection address for that minute, not the address itself.
The bot check (Cloudflare Turnstile)
To keep automated programs from hammering the free test and the contact form, both use Cloudflare Turnstile. It runs quietly in the background — there is no puzzle to solve. Cloudflare looks at signals from your browser to decide whether you are a real visitor and sends us a yes-or-no answer. Cloudflare does not get the website address you typed or the message you wrote. Cookies
We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit Chexite, which guides get read, and which countries visitors come from. It sets a few cookies in your browser so it can tell a returning visitor from a new one. The numbers we see are grouped together; we don’t see who you are, and we don’t use them for advertising. We do not run any advertising trackers on this site. If you’d rather not be counted, you can install Google’s opt-out add-on for your browser (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout) or block cookies for this site in your browser settings. Fonts
Our pages use fonts served by Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser asks Google for the font files, which means Google sees your connection address, the same as it would for any website that uses their fonts. Google’s privacy policy covers this.
Links to other websites, including affiliate links
Our guides and our “Tools we like” section link to other companies’ websites. We may earn a small commission for some of the links to outside SEO and AIO tools: if you click one and later buy something, the tool company pays us a small amount, at no extra cost to you. We only list tools we would recommend anyway, and the commission never changes what we say about them.
Once you leave Chexite, the other site’s privacy policy applies, not ours.
“Buy me a coffee”
If you choose to support the site with a small tip, the payment happens on a separate payment provider’s page, not on Chexite. We never see or store your card details.
Contact form
If you send us a message through the contact form, we receive what you typed plus your name and email address so we can reply. We keep messages only as long as we need them to answer you. Messages that look like spam are dropped automatically and never stored.
Server logs
Like almost every website, our hosting company keeps standard server logs (things like the page requested, the time, the browser type, and the connection address). These are used to keep the site running and secure, and are cleared on a normal schedule. We don’t use them to identify or profile visitors.
Your choices and rights
You can use the free test without giving us any personal information at all. If you have written to us and want your information deleted, contact us and we will take care of it.
Changes to this page
If we change how the site works, we will update this page and change the “last updated” date at the top.
